Civil Engineer / Construction Engineer for India

For our market entry into India we are looking for a Civil Engineer / Construction Engineer for India.

Objective of the position

Support of our market entry into India in close co-operation with and supported by our engineering team in Europe as well as the commercial project team in India. In this function you will be reporting directly to the Technical Managing Director of our Indian organization.

Your tasks

• To ensure efficient project planning and execution during our plant construction and ramp up
• To facilitate product development (hollow blocks, bricks and accessories)
• To support our technical sales team with advise on how to construct
• To support training of Indian builders / masons

Your qualifications / Your profile

• Degree in civil or construction engineering
• At least ten years of experience in the Indian construction / building (residential / commercial) or building materials industry (clay or concrete based)
• Practical experience of applicable Indian standards (IS norms, BMTPC)
• Excellent know-how of project planning, cost accounting and project execution
• Practical know-how of CAD and related software products
• Research or academic background (related to building materials) a plus
• Sound understanding of architectural trends welcome
• Excellent command of English and Hindi, Kannada a plus
• Strong entrepreneurial attitude and readiness to act on own initiative
• Dynamic, assertive and integrative personality
• Willingness to travel frequently within South India

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful applicant will manage the production and office of this established, but small, Kevington branch. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing day-to-day running with the assistance of Production Manager and Office Administrator
• Haulage planning
• Direct customer contact with some price negotiation role
• Scheduling production and managing overtime and recruitment of extra staff to suit business levels
• Profitability of factory
• Health and safety of factory

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Good IT skills
• Excellent people management skills
• Numerate and literate
• Ability to think on your feet!

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Health and Safety qualifications / knowledge

REPORTING TO	Mike Chapman - Factory Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION	The successful applicant will join the Dorket Head Factory Management Team providing engineering expertise to achieve key production and efficiency targets in a major brick extrusion plant. Key responsibilities will lie in the following functional areas: Management of a multi-skilled maintenance team. Extensive liaison with suppliers, contractors and internal factory customers. Planning and managing maintenance shutdown periods. Budgeting and controlling maintenance department expenditure. Provision of engineering/technical expertise to continually improve machine efficiency, through application of TPM principles. Development and management of capital expenditure programmes. Overseeing the engineering stores. Extensive involvement in site H&S, Environmental and TPM initiatives.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE	Applicants will need to possess the following: Good communication and interpersonal skills. A recognised engineering qualification. Extensive experience of the brick making industry or a similar heavy automated industry. A high degree of self-motivation. A good admin and project management skills history. Competent IT skills. A proved track record of teamworking ability. Demonstrable man management skills.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE	Health & Safety qualification. Electrical system knowledge.
