Australia - Solar tiles installed for the first time on the Central Coast

No more ridiculously high electricity bills, as Mrs Atherton’s roof has been completely retiled to include 15sq metres of solar tiles. Solar tiles are becoming increasingly popular throughout Sydney, with residents keen to reap the cost-saving benefits of having their entire roof covered.

“I’m really impressed, it looks amazing,” Mrs Atherton said. “We are the first house to have these solar tiles on the Central Coast. They are catching on pretty quick in Sydney, but it hasn’t come up to the Coast yet.”

Mrs Atherton found out about solar tiles when she decided to retile her roof.
Mrs Atherton’s 60-year-old roof was leaking and causing damage when they decided to retile, and found out about the roofing company Monier who supplied solar tiles from Germany.

At any stage, the Atherton’s can increase their solar profile.

“We are just dipping our toes in at the moment with only 15sq metres,” she said. “They are actually 20 times the price of a normal concrete tile.”

The solar tiles are a new trend in the roofing sector.
The tiles were installed by Sydney Re Roofing with the help of Ezy Scaffolding over a period of two weeks.

“I just can’t believe it, the roof has been a massive job,” Mrs Atherton said.

“The company actually gives you a good idea of how effective the panels will be before they install them. We will come close to being completely off the grid.”
