Monier acquired Schotts InDaX framing technology, the rights to use the InDaX name and patents related to the product
Monier
Group Services GmbH (Oberursel, Germany) has acquired Schott Solar AG's (Mainz,
Germany) InDaX technology for roof-integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) modules,
including the framing technology, the rights to use the InDaX name and patents
related to the product.
The
companies have not disclosed financial terms of the transaction. The Monier
Group states that the system has already been launched in Germany, Italy and
Southeastern Europe, with further market launches planned in the United Kingdom
and France by the end of 2012.
"The
InDaX allows Monier to tap into promising new distribution channels in the PV
market," notes Jens Milnikel, director of Monier's Solar Roof Systems
business line.
"We
are building on a technology that will allow us to more strongly benefit from a
trend that sees solar systems becoming independent of feed-in-tariffs and being
increasingly used for decentralized own consumption."
Monier outsources PV laminate production
Monier says
that experts from its business line and Technical Centre have closely
cooperated with Schott Solar in the market launch and further development of
the InDaX system.
Monier will
not take over PV laminate production but instead build on partnerships with
established manufacturers and purchase their systems, as it does for other PV
systems.
The
equipment for faming and finishing acquired by Monier will be relocated to one
of its sites near Milan, Italy.
