BAT in the ceramic manufacturing industry based on the example of the brick and roofing tile industry

Permits for setting up and operating installations for firing ceramic products must make provision for the Best Available Techniques (BAT) from October 2007 at the latest and these techniques must be applied by the operator. This paper presents the BAT reference document (BREF), its content and consequences for the ceramics industry in Germany.
