Malaysia: Fire breaks out at clay-brick maker Kia Lim’s factory

BATU PAHAT: A fire broke out on Friday morning at one of the factories belonging to a subsidiary of Johor-based clay brick manufacturer Kia Lim Bhd.

The company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that no personnel was injured in the 6am incident that took place at the factory’s buildings, which housed machinery for firing materials and storage, firing material for transportation, feeding system and tunnel kiln.

Kia Lim said at the time of the filing it was unable to ascertain the extent of the damage and financial loss the company.

“KLB is looking into ascertaining the actual extent and quantum of the damage caused by the fire together with the insurers and other relevant parties,” the company said.

Kia Lim’s share price rose 3.5 sen to close at 48.5 sen last Friday.
